Gutter Tor & Warren House

Gutter Tor is a lovely Tor to explore, with lots of paths and walks around it.

There is a small car parking area at the bottom of the Tor.

You can find it using this addressUnnamed Rd, Yelverton, Sheepstor PL20 6PG. It is of course free to park!

Please be aware there are usually sheep around here, so dogs on leads are a must!

From the car park you can make your way straight up to the Tor. It is roughly half a mile to the top. It is a moderate walk, and not a very steep climb. You just need to be aware of the rocks, as the ground can be uneven.

Once at the top of Gutter Tor, you can make your way down the back of the Tor, joining the path at the bottom. From there you can follow the path until you find Warren House. This is the house that was used in the film War Horse. In fact the whole area was used as inspiration for the War Horse book and they even filmed some of the movie there!

The walk from Gutter Tor to Warren House is another half a mile and is on a clear and steady path.

You cant go into the house, but you can go right up to it. From here you can either follow the path and circle back to the car park or follow it onto Drizzlecombe. You can also walk down to the River Plym and let the dogs have a splash around!

If you do the circular route, from the car park up to the Tor onto Warren house and back, this is 2 miles.
