Lantic Bay

Dogs allowed all year round

Lantic bay is one of the first bays we found when we moved here and it is now one of our faveourite places to visit!

There is a national trust car park just off the road, this is free for members but you will need to pay if you are not a member. The prices are below. You can pay by cash or via the app or by calling PayByPhone.

  • £2.00 up to 1hr
  • £4.00 up to 4hrs
  • £8.00 all day

Once out of the car park turn left and cross the road. Follow the path along the field and then left along the edge of the next field. Once you have walked through the field you will come to a gate leading down to the coast path.

The walk is VERY steep and is about half a mile walk down. There is a mix of steps and path. Some parts can get slippery when wet, so caution is needed.

There is a longer way round, as the path slopes down more gradually. When you get to the gate after crossing the field, go left instead of straight down and follow the path around. It loops round at the cliff top and then round to join the original path down to the beach.

See map below, highlighting the two coastal paths down.

Once on the beach you will understand why we love it so much. This bay is secluded and very peaceful. At low tide there is a big sandy beach, with high tide there is not much beach there. So watch the tide times!

On a calmer day you could even paddleboard or swim to the coves next to Lantic bay. These are only ever accessible at very low tide.

Lantic bay is perfect for the dogs. It is always so quiet due to the steep walk! Meaning they can have full run of the beach without worrying about too many people or dogs!

You could also make a full day of it and follow the coastal path and explore more of the beautiful coast line!

Make sure you stay for a while, it makes the walk back up worth it!!
