Lantic bay to Polruan

This walk is 2.5 miles one way.

We really enjoyed this part of the coastal path and also walking towards a village for some food, was great motivation!

We parked at the lantic bay car park.

There is a national trust car park just off the road, this is free for members but you will need to pay if you are not a member. The prices are below. You can pay by cash or via the app or by calling PayByPhone.

  • £2.00 up to 1hr
  • £4.00 up to 4hrs
  • £8.00 all day

From the car park you turn left and cross over the road and through the gate. Follow the path along and then go left into the field. Once you have crossed the field you will get to the South West Coast Path. From there you can go down and check out Lantic bay.

For this walk head right (if you are looking out to sea) and follow the coastal path. This part of the coastal path has quite a few hills, so there are a very steep bits but this also means some nice downhill!

We took our time and really enjoyed the views along the way.

When we reached Polruan, we walked down into the little fishing village (steep walk down!)

It isn’t a big village, which is what we loved about it. There was a small shop, two pubs and a café!

We went to The Lugger Inn, this is a lovely little pub which is of course dog friendly! They have a great selection of drinks and their food menu is delicious!

The other pub is The Russell Inn. We didn’t go there as they were only serving food in the evening but we expect that may be down to the COVID restrictions at the time. So best to check before you go!

There is also a lovely tea room called Jam First, which we got some food to go for our walk back! They do great afternoon teas, cakes and sandwiches! The perfect little rest stop!

We then walked back along the coastal path to Lantic Bay to finish our walk.

However, if you wanted to continue exploring, you can get a ferry from Polruan to Fowey. Which is another lovely town in Cornwall. There are lots of shops and restaurants to explore and the costal path continues there too!
