Lopwell Dam to Blaxton Wood

This beautiful walk follows the Tamar river, down from Lopwell Dam and into Blaxton Woods. This is a very easy walk and an easy route to follow. We walked out and back but there are a few circular walks to follow too!

You can park for free at Lopwell Dam. From the carpark, go right along the road and take the first right. Here you will see a gate alongside the river, go through here and follow the path along the river.

There are quite a few opportunities for the dogs to get in the river and the woods offer lots of paths for them to run and explore.

You will come to the end of the woods and to another country lane. Go over the stile and follow the road right for a while, before finding the entrance to the path on the right. Back into the woods.

Be careful during shooting season, as we found there were a lot of Pheasants around. This is a private estate, so there are signs saying that the route will be closed on shoot days, so just be aware of this!
