Millook Coastal Circular Walk

Millook Coastal Circular Walk – 5 miles

We found this walk online and thought it sounded perfect, for us and the dogs! The walk includes fields, farmland, woodland, rivers and of course the coast and beaches!

Parking is quite sparse around Millook, which makes it nice and quiet! You can park in the little village on the road, but there is probably room for 3 cars in total. There is a steep hill and as you come down the road bends by the entrance to the beach and you can park there on the right. I have pinned the location below of where the street parking is.

As we were in a van, we didn’t feel like we could park there, so we drove back up the hill. Which took about four attempts, as there was a very steep and tight turn on the road!

Further up, which you would have past was a big layby. We decided to park there and walk down. I have pinned the location below for the layby.

Out of the layby go right down the hill and you will see a gate on the right, this will send you down a steep path down to the beach. From there you can pick up the coastal path that starts through the gate on the left, just past the cottage.

The instructions and map is easy to follow and gives detail about the area you are in.

The walk is extremely dog friendly and the dogs were able to be off lead for a lot of it. However, you will need to be careful when approaching fields and farmland, as we did come across some cows and sheep.

The views are spectacular once you hit the coastal path but please take extra caution with the cliff edges and dogs!

After the walk we went onto the beach, called Millook Haven. Dogs are allowed on this beach all year round. This beach is a big, pebbled beach with incredible cliff edges. The dogs loved running around here and exploring amongst the rocks. Due to the lack of parking around, we had the beach to ourselves, which was an added bonus!

Here are the link to the walk, I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did!
