Mothecombe beach – Dog banned April – September
Coast Guard Beach – Dogs allowed all year
These beaches are on private land but accessible to the public all year round. It is part of the Flete Estate. The main beach is Mothecombe beach and around the corner is Coast Guard beach.
Both beaches are accessable from the same car park but by taking different routes.
The car park is huge, so you should never have an issue with parking. However, it can be quite expensive. Parking charges are below:
1st April – 30th September charges apply.
£5 – all day
£3 – after 3pm
They do have the option to purchase a season ticket, at the cost of £60!
To access Mothecombe, at the bottom of the car park there is a path, that joins a lane (no cars use this part of the road)
On the right you will see a farmers gate with the sign saying Mothecombe Beach. Follow this path past the field and down through the woodland path and onto the beach.
This beach unfortunately has a seasonal dog ban from April – September.

However, from the same car park if you walk down the same lane and keep walking, you get to a slip way and can walk down onto Coast Guard Beach. Only round the corner from Mothecombe (and does join up to it at low tide) you still have a huge beach to explore and better yet, dogs are allowed all year round!

This part of the beach has the estuary running through it and it actually separating it from Wonwell Beach on the other side.
You can really make a day of it here as the beach is huge.

Another benefit is that there is a fantastic Café/restaurant on this site, which serves fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner. They even do special evenings with music, BBQ or themed food nights! Of course, dog friendly! I would suggest booking as it is not a big place but they do have outside seating.
