Sheeps Tor was one of the first Tors we walked when we moved to Devon and it has stayed a firm favourite!
There are car parks nearer to Burrator but there is also a layby near the entrance to the walk to Sheeps Tor and this is where we park.

I have put a photo of where it is on the map. But if you are coming from Plymouth, once you get to Burrator, go right and cross the bridge and follow the road around. Before you get the Sheeps Tor village, you turn left and up a narrow road you will see the laybys. You can park on the left and right of the road.

From there you follow the path up and then through the gate at the top. Here you make the steady climb up to the base of Sheeps Tor. From here you can go around but if you do want to climb up, there is a clearer path slightly to the right of the Tor.

Once at the top you will notice why we love this Tor. The views of Burrator Reservoir are incredible and on a good day, you can see for miles.

Once you have finished taking in the view, follow the well trodden path down the back of the Tor and down through the Moors.
Before you get to the fence you will notice the path veer to the left. Follow the path and you will get to a wooded area.

As you follow the path, it eventually comes to a gate or you can follow the path round to the left. Follow it to the left and along the wall. This will eventually take you back to the first gate and back to the car park.
Once you have climbed up the Tor, the rest of the walk is easy. We would recommend some good walking shoes as it can be a bit unstable under foot.

As always with Dartmoor, please keep your dogs on leads and under control. There is a lot of livestock around and we need to ensure they are kept safe.
